Clair de lune from scratch: Piano Lesson #16.2, Basics of Pedaling, Part 2

Clair de lune from scratch: Piano Lesson #16.2, Basics of Pedaling, Part 2 Video Clips. Duration : 7.40 Mins.

Please visit PianoFromScratch.com toview all of the lessons and download the sheet music. We now show a suggested pedaling for the first page of Clair de lune, using special symbols to indicate when to press, hold, and lift or "change" the pedal. I also talk briefly about some of the technologies I use that dramatically enhance my teaching and playing capabilities, including Home Concert Xtreme, the Wacom Bamboo graphics tablet for drawing digital ink, and an AirTurn ( http ), which is a wireless transmitter connected to a foot pedal that allows me to turn "pages" of digital music without the need for my hands to leave the keyboard. We talk about the need to remember "UP/down" (emphasis on "UP") as a technique for making sure the pedal connects with the notes played in the hands correctly, and how proper pedaling can actually make "legato" or "smooth playing" easier to do with far less tension. You can download a PDF of the score as part of the Suite Bergamasque from IMSLP.org here: imslp.org You can also download the MusicReader version of Clair de lune itself here: airturn.com MusicReader is a program that gives you the ability to annotate your score with digital ink, just like I do on these lesson videos. For more information about MusicReader, please visit airturn.com

illustrated Tablets - The Basics

What is a descriptive tablet? Chances are that you have already used one. While checking out at your local division or grocery store, have you ever been asked to swipe a prestige or debit card straight through a exiguous reader mounted on the counter, then have to use a plastic wand to sign your name on one of those small screens? That is a type of descriptive pad technology. You just may have a descriptive pad in your purse or pocket right now. Ever take a stylus (or the "pointy thing" as it is sometimes called) and mark a date on a calendar or write out a grocery list on your Pda? If so, that is a type of descriptive tablet.

Sometimes known as digitizers, descriptive tablets are pressure sensitive tablets that retort to the use of a wand, or pen. By spicy the pen on the descriptive tablet, you can make lines on the computer screen; manipulate data, or even use as a mouse. The tablet connects to the computer straight through an lowly Usb port, and some of the pens are linked by cord and some are cordless. These tablets are most familiar to artists who use them to originate drawings on computers. Dream trying to draw with a mouse. You must hold the mouse button down with one finger, while spicy the mouse around, determined trying to move the on screen curser to yield a drawing. Now think how much best the photo would look having drawn it with a freely spicy digitizer pen. The descriptive tablet and pen allow for great ease of use.

Graphic Tablets

Graphic tablets are excellent for photo manipulation too. One of my sons loves to manipulate photos for use on Facebook. By using a descriptive tablet, he can more categorically outline images, cut, paste, move, and layer photos. By using a pen instead of a mouse, it is a snap to manipulate the images. descriptive tablets are also becoming more commonly used as a replacement for the mouse. Some people, who have experienced arthritic type symptoms in their wrist and hand from eight hours of using the mouse all day, find relief by switching to a descriptive tablet. Tapping the pad with the pen gives the same effect as clicking the mouse. Two taps? A double click. Some pens have buttons that can be clicked like a mouse button.
